RtK Speed Spoiler
Here are some tips to help you fight through
all the combat events and prevail:
-
Use
Attack Sytles carefully! Set Attack Style to "Conservative" if you
want the entire party to survive all combats. Set it to "Aggressive"
if you don't mind losing a character from time to time. Remember,
the fewer experience points each character accumulates the fewer times
they will level up. (But if the entire party dies, the game's over!)
-
Use
heal potions sparingly! Try not to use a potion to just "top
off" your HPs. Wait until the full effect of the potion will be used
before you use it. Enter especially tough combat events with HP s
as high as possible.
-
Don't
waste heal potions or spellcasting potions to raise points near
the end of a chapter. With each new chapter, all characters' HPs
and SPs are filled back up. Also, just before the last event of the
chapter is a perfect time to use Know the Hidden to assess any items
you've been curious about.
-
Hoard
fire oil ! Especially in early chapters, a mage's quick-casting
will not be very reliable so the fire oil can bail out some sticky situations.
-
Use Solon, William and/or
James to block adversaries from getting to the magi.
-
Use
Solon's life casting power to recharge the entire party to full
health. This technique works best if you've found an Appenticeship
Ring or Ring of Assembly. Let Solon wear one outside of combat to
refresh all the rest and himself.
-
Watch
your encumbrance! Only grab items that you have a use for,
like potions, resins, fire oil, enchanted weapons and armor, wands, jewelry
and scrolls. Since you can't redeem anything, just leave the rest
lay.
-
Apply
level-up points to enhance each hero's special talents
-
James, in early skill development:
Initiative, Defense, Bladed. When these 3 skills are about 75, start
adding points to Bow. (James will need bow skill and poison to control
the Lich later on.) After James has maxed out those 4 attributes,
pick whatever you like.
-
Jazhara, in early skill development:
Initiative, Defense, Path of Fire. After Path of Fire is 90 (to cast
Birthing Sun) the best investment is in Path of Change. Don't
waste points on alchemy, analyze or other "handy" skills... there's just
no time in this kind of game.
-
William, in early skill development:
Initiative, Defense, Two-Handed. Nothing else matters :)
-
Kendaric, in early skill
development: Initiative, Defense, Path of Storms. After Path
of Storms is 100 (to cast Chaos Storm), Path of Mind is a good bet.
Kendaric will not level up very much by the end of the game, most will
come too late to help critical combat events (eg. vampires in the tomb).
-
Solon, in early skill development:
Initiative, Defense, Path of Life.
-
Games
played at higher difficulty will allocate fewer experience points for identical
events and therefore will produce a better Speed Rating than at a lower
difficulty setting.
