The Pure Melee Variant
In this variant, the
power of spellcasting has been neutralized. By limiting all team members
to melee attack only, a unique combat strategy is revealed.
The various combat postures (i.e. Defend, Guard, Wait, Half-Move) should
be explored when attempting this variant.
MAGIC/SPELLCASTING ALLOWED ! This includes spells from
magical potions (see list of valid Pure Melee Potions, below), enchanted
items, scrolls and any Path.
ANY WEAPONS! Any weapon, whether standard issue or enchanted,
may be equipped at all times and used in combat. Additional enchanted
damage attributes of enchanted weapons are allowed (Example:
FireStaff's extra fire damage makes it suitable for pure melee, but the
Chaos Storm spell of DragonStaff is not permitted. However, as a
melee weapon, Dragonstaff is acceptable.)
ANY ARMOR OR JEWELRY! All armor and jewelry, whether standard
issue or enchanted, may be equipped at all times and used in combat.
Spells contained within the jewelry, however are prohibited.
SETTING! Gameplay may be set at any difficulty and focus.
Work your way up to Hard/Fighter where the points awarded will be the fewest
but where the test is the most challenging.

QUEST AWARD! Completing all side quests earns special recognition.
PURIST AWARD! No deaths.
If any character dies during combat, the game must be deleted and a new
one started. Express your skill and take what fate wills to gain
this rare achievement.
