Visit
Farmer Toth 3 times without speaking to him. On the next visit, choose
the "Visit the Ninja Clan" option to get a look at some of the contributors
of Return to Krondor. Use the bracket keys [ ] to scan around
the inside of the scene, but don't click the mouse button or try using
the arrow keys.
The
Goblin Camp north of the Wayfarer Inn and the Troll Cave just west of the
camp involve some tough battles, but the rewards are great. The small
battle with goblins at the outpost is handy for a party with low experience
to gain a lot of points by leaving and re-entering the outpost several
times. Any loot grabbed from the corpses will be unavailable for
the goblins to use in subsequent battles.
Visit
Lane's Clearing at the foothills of the mountains in a futile attempt to
save Farmer Toth's wounded companion, but refrain from initiating any dialogue
or looting. Leave the scene and return. A few of the slain
goblins will have risen from the dead and will attack. The looted
bodies of the goblins can serve as a cache storage throughout the remainder
of this chapter.
Although
Goodman (the innkeeper) offers a night's lodging for the weary party, it's
best to finish business with Alan and sleep outside. Escaping the
burning inn while battling goblins inside is a bit tricky.
Limit
the encumbrance of the party members to no more than 70% upon reaching
Widow's Point. In the battle with Air Elementals it will be difficult
to move your heroes away from the sharp claws if they are weighted down.
Mages can use the Ride the Lightning spell to escape if cornered.
The
chests and mage packs inside the Troll Cave can be used to store loot for
the remainder of the chapter. It's handy to leave stuff here while
the team attempts to rescue the twins from the Goblin Camp. Don't
forget to pick up what you want before entering Widow's Point!
Most combat events can be avoided by sticking to the southernmost path along the beach, but most of the clues, storyline and side quests will be missed. The countryside is the best place for aspiring mages to get practice launching spells, so be adventurous and wander ;)
